Where to eat near Murphy Park

There are many places to eat in near Murphy Park.  None are within reasonable walking distance.

Quick meals - in and out in less than an hour

Whole Foods serve-yourself buffet.  Across the parking lot from Murphy Avenue.  Wide variety of salads, hot food, pizza, sandwiches, bakery items, etc.  Plentiful parking in the attached parking structure (entrance on S. Murphy Avenue).  Some outdoor tables (under an overhang) and some indoor tables.
Armadillo Willy BBQ.  Ribs, chicken, tri-tip, etc. 161 El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, in strip mall just east of Sunnyvale Ave.  Indoor seating, with a few outdoor tables.
Rubio's Coastal Grill.  Mexican chain.  Order at the counter, fast service.  El Camino Real, southeast corner of Sunnyvale Avenue.
The Habit hamburgers.  El Camino Real, southwest corner of Sunnyvale Avenue.
In-N-Out Burgers.  El Camino, 1/4 mile east of Sunnyvale Avenue.
McDonalds.  696 N. Mathilda,, 1/2 mile north of the train tracks
Denny's diner.   On Ahwanee (next to Matilda) 1/2 mile north of the train tracks
Pizza Hut.  Take-out on Matilda 1/4 mile north of the train tacks.
Burger King.  On Matilda just south of 101, west side of the street.

The places listed below will all take you longer than an hour, if you sit down at the restaurant, but you can order take-out and bring it back to Murphy Park to eat.  If you plan to eat at one of these places during the lunch break, I strongly recommend phoning in your order ahead of time, or ordering online for 1:30 PM pickup so you won't miss any tips in the afternoon.

Hobee's family restaurant (salads, burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, bowls, pasta, and great blueberry coffee cake!) 800 W. Ahwanee (next to Matilda) 1/2 mile north of the train tracks, right before you get to 101.

Below is a list of our favorites on the pedestrian section of Murphy Avenue.  They are all sit-down places, so either do take-out or be prepared to take more than an hour.   They are located on the pedestrian-only historic Murphy Avenue, with plentiful outdoor seating.  Parking can be very difficult near Murphy Avenue unless you use the parking structure for Whole Foods or Target and walk across the parking lot to the pedestrian street. On Saturdays there is a farmers market from 9 AM - 1 PM.  If you are doing take-out, if the driver will stay in the car, you park in the lot for one of the businesses on California Avenue, while someone dashes into the restaurant to pick up the food.

Mayan Kitchen.  Small plate tasting menu or regular entrees.  Delicious, but very different from Mexican or Tex-Mex food.
Siam Taste.  Extensive menu of Southeast Asian cuisine.  My favorite is the tom-ka coconut milk soup with fish and vegetables.
DishDash Middle Eastern cuisine.
Burma Taste small plates, salads and entrees.  Combination of Southeast Asian and Indian cuisine, including vegetarian dishes
Gumba's Italian.  Southern Italian dishes including pasta, pizza, ravioli, etc.
Kabul Afghan restaurant.  No outdoor seating.  One block north of Murphy Avenue.  Extensive menu including vegetarian dishes.
