Menlo-Atherton High School
Computer Donation Program

(updated August 2023)
Do you or your company have old computers (working or not), monitors, printers, flash drives, parts, or other equipment that you don't need any more? We refurbish old computer equipment for low-income students at Menlo-Atherton High School who do not have access to a computer at home, and for use in classrooms.

Since the program started in 1999, the PTA computer donation program has supplied over 8,000 computers to students at our local public high schools, thousands of USB flash drives for students to save their files to print at school, and smartphones for students who need them to stay in contact with their families.

We also provide free software for math, science, and word processing.  M-A High provides free WiFi hot spots for families who have no internet at home.  If you need a hotspot, go to the Media Center in the F-wing to check one out.  We provide the computers, but they provide the hot spots.  You can keep the computers that we donate, but the hot spots need to be returned at the end of the school year.

We securely erase all information from all donated computers (and other devices) as part of the refurbishing process, before loading new software and distributing them.  We can provide a tax-donation receipt and also a receipt certifying destruction of the data.

We are always looking for these items:

If you want to dispose of items that we cannot accept (such as ancient computers, inkjet printers, or old-fashioned CRT monitors), you can dispose of them (at no cost) at several local  e-waste centers.

If you have one item (or a truckload!) to donate, please email Sue Kayton at computerdonations@mabearspta.org or phone (not text!) to 650-853-1711. To request donation of a computer, or to request computer repair, please contact Sue via email. She will verify your eligibility through the guidance office at the high school, then make arrangements to deliver a computer to you.

Thank you to our many corporate donors for helping bridge the digital divide. Click on a company's logo to visit their website.
